Call for Art

Not a web log, not a journal, not me, not much.   Some passing thoughts, quotes, and images - always - good for nothing.  - Mr. Oland

The world of creation being the good-for nothing world, it belongs to anyone with creativeness, that is to say anyone claiming his natural birth-gift:  good for nothingness.   - Robert Filiou

NOT HERE NOT THERE
1: Farewell NYC Hello Atlanta (2 hours late.)

2: Cruised Atlanta. Shopped! MoCA Georgia show w/UW pal Brian Rust.
Visited with Ann before her Contemporary Studio Open House
and before Tosca – Wow, give me an opera with passion,
Puccini delivers. Beautiful love arias, deep suffering!

3: Great visit over brunch with Ann and Mark before return to mountains.

4: Spacey rainy head – not here not there. Longing
for what? Asheville to repair broken glasses?
Interview with Leonard Cohen on radio?
A new book of poetry?

5: Piles of stuff to do
Not here, not there.
Where?
Okay…begin.

CULTURE SEARCHER

1: Atlanta 10pm for overnite and parking.

2: NYC pouring rain; MoMA - Contemporary
Islamic artists and work from Broida collection
– enjoyed both.

3: Chelsea galleries and still raining. Key theme: grotesque images
of women (mostly) and men. Some interesting art - mostly not.....
Late afternoon to Lisa's (AGAIN gave wrong cell phone number to her.
Very not funny!)
Dinner at Zen Palate - yum.

4: Met (museum)- Betty Woodhouse, Cara Walker, Hatshepsut.
Walker - the fave. Lots of bite!
CIRCLES: walked (we thought) across Park to Lisa's; ended up on 5th
again!! Took bus back barely in time for Met (opera) “Elixir” -
high expectations of Met – not met!

5: Whitney Biennial. Very crowded show with lots of demanding work;
dark goth stuff; cartoony genre stuff; AND a few exciting pieces.
PM - "Light in the Piazza" – heart warming.

Enjoyed Lisa, her 2 cats. Sensed her occasional exasperation
with me/us/things; observed my ensuing anxiety.
(Long for perfect connections! What is that, really?)
Sat together two mornings. Great conversations.
She's the Real Deal.
